Upcoming Plus Size Fashion Events

June 16, 2015 / 10 Comments

The plus size market is finally making an impact in the fashion world, and it’s definitely not a moment too soon.

Here is a quick run-down of some of the most interesting events this year has to offer, so you can put them in your diary, and keep an eye out for updates about them online. It’s quite a varied selection, including launch dates for plus size labels, modelling castings, catwalks, bloggers events, panel discussions, and much more, but one thing we’re sure of: there will be some beautiful clothes, and beautiful people, at all of them.

14th – 20th June – Full Figured Fashion Week, NYC

Full Figured Fashion Week featured a great number of plus size fashion designers last year, both new and established ones, and we expect much of the same for this year. It has now been running for 7 years and although not much information about 2015’s event has been released yet, they are currently having a series of modelling castings over in the US. For those of you based in the Big Apple, count yourself lucky that one of the longest running and most influential events is being held right on your doorstep.

18th & 19th July – Style XL, Birmingham

The first Midlands based plus size fashion event, with a catwalk, stalls, entertainment and a series of workshops, Style XL looks set to make a definite impression. A great event for those based outside of London, it promises to cover upcoming fashion trends, and is also promoting a number of plus size brands.

September – UK Plus Size Fashion Week, London

While not officially affiliated with London Fashion Week, the timing of both events last year being so close together definitely brought a lot of attention to the UK Plus Size Fashion Week. The intention of the organisers is to unite the plus size community through a love of fashion. So far there isn’t much information about what we’ve got to look forward to for their third annual event , however, based on  last year’s offer, such as plenty of gorgeous items of clothing, beautiful plus size models, and talks and panel discussions – we’re hoping for much of the same for 2015.

12th – 16th September – London Fashion Week, London

After a long list of amazing pro-Plus Size companies and events, you would be right to ask why London Fashion Week is on this list, but as 2014 saw the Evans catwalk show closing the event , highlighting some beautiful plus size outfits and a lot of attention both on and offline for it, we reckon it can only get better from here – so can’t wait to see which plus size fashion brands will be making an impact this year!

19th September – Miss Plus Size International

Self-styled as a pageant for “big, beautiful women who are beautiful inside and out”, Miss Plus Size International aims to celebrate gorgeous women who are larger than a size 18. The finalists have already been chosen, with ladies from all over the UK, and some from even further afield! Gorgeous ladies, flowing gowns, and a great atmosphere – the last few years have certainly been a success and 2015 looks like no exception.

26th September – The Curve Fashion Festival, Manchester

A new event for this year, The Curve Fashion Festival is set to make its mark on the plus size community, with the promise of over 50 retailers due to take part, and two catwalk shows. There will also be seminars with fashion insiders letting the audience into their specialist knowledge, personal styling sessions and last but not least a champagne and tea bar.

21st November 2015 – British Plus Size Awards, London

While not strictly a fashion event, the British Plus Size Awards will be voting for and honouring the Best Plus Size Models, Clothing Retailers, Designers (for which, we have been nominated in the past!), Bloggers, and role models and a great many more. It looks to be an amazing red carpet event, and an opportunity to support the best the plus size community has to offer. Tickets to the event are available through their website.
